WBL Mock Interview Reflection
At the beginning of the WBL workshop we sat in circles and practiced mock interviews. During each mock interviews there were a series of questions asked to test our ability of answering questions on the spot. Each interviewee was also scored on posture, eye contact, introduction and body language.
To start of with what went well in each interview, one thing that was good was their posture and body language. Each student was able to introduce themselves with a firm handshake and speak clearly to the interviewer. Also when they sat down onto the chair they were able to correct their posture and sit up straight while speaking to the interviewer. Another good thing i was able to observe was how each student was able to answer the question, without completely getting off topic. An extra note was how they were able to get up to leave. They were able to wait to shake their hand and say goodbye formally instead of walking out.
The negatives of each mock interview was the ability to not keep eye contact and a certain level of professionalism. Sometimes they would speak to the interviewer but have their head down or looking around them. Having eye contact is a major key during an interview because the interviewer wants to speak face to face and not feel disrespected when you aren't. Another negative was their professionalism. Each student was able to be mature enough to speak formally but since their friends were around them some would laugh and lose focus. Another problem was the way they fidgeted and seemed very nervous.
If i was in the mock interviews, i believe i would've done an average job because some of the questions asked, i wouldn't have been prepared for, Also knowing that i can be goofy, having friends around me, i would start laughing and lose my professionalism. Mock interviews are a great way to give us insight on how we can get ourselves prepared to be on step ahead of the next person
