Project 7 Newsletter

Image
During project 7 the goal was to collaborate with a group of 4 people and brainstorm ideas to create a newspaper or magazine. Each person in the group had to write their own article about the topic and add all the elements that is needed for an article. Our team leader chose the topic sports and within that topic we narrowed it down to Bodybuilding, because we found that it would be an easier writing piece to create. At first everyone in the class was suppose to write their own article for the peer reviewing section. On Friday we reviewed other works and wrote comments about them. For my writing i chose to write about Arnold Schwarzenegger and how he became a bodybuilder and his meals throughout the day.  With this we incorporated our work together into InDesign and began combing the works. In order for the group to finish on time, I decided to take responsibility and take the project home to finish it, and make it more appealing. To the left is the cover I made for our magazine,...

Project 6 Reflection Journal

Image
During project 6 we had to create and demonstrate our skills as web designers, by brainstorming and collaborating to create a yearbook. The time for the project there was 4 people per group and each one had a unique role. My role in my group was the designer. I chose this role because it was the hardest and allowed me to practice even more with my illustrator, Photoshop and In design skills. Our topic for the yearbook was kids in the city or city life, which Is why I chose a 7 train because most kids take the 7 train to come and go to school. Another reason why I put the Black Hawk over the train is because that was the symbol of our school. I made this in illustrator and used the trace option to make it look like it was drawn and more appealing than the original pictures. I also designed all the spreads and put all the pictures and typed all the text into the file because of my teams lack of time management and mine, I took the liberty and took the project home to mak...

WBL Mock Interview Reflection

Image
At the beginning of the WBL workshop we sat in circles and practiced mock interviews. During each mock interviews there were a series of questions asked to test our ability of answering questions on the spot. Each interviewee was also scored on posture, eye contact, introduction and body language.      To start of with what went well in each interview, one thing that was good was their posture and body language. Each student was able to introduce themselves with a firm handshake and speak clearly to the interviewer. Also when they sat down onto the chair they were able to correct their posture and sit up straight while speaking to the interviewer.  Another good thing i was able to observe was how each student was able to answer the question, without completely getting off topic.  An extra note was how they were able to get up to leave. They were able to wait to shake their hand and say goodbye formally instead of walking out.   ...

CTE Expo Reflection

Image
The objective of the C.T.E Expo was to show off Visual Design and what Visual Design is to the upcoming sophomores. Visual Design helps you to create things with Adobe and make anything look good using colors, formats, shapes, etc. The main objective for us was to show our Business Card project to the freshman's and tell them how we used Adobe InDesign and Illustrator in order to create and format everything on the board. Another objective was to "sell" the web design academy to them and explain to them honestly what it takes to be part of the web design team. To prepare for this I was suppose to look business casual, to make us look more presentable and professional during the Expo. I practiced some of the topic that I was going to talk about with each freshman and tried to maintain the same routine every conversation. During the actual event, at first I was nervous and anxious to talk to freshman professionally and explain what we were doing in web design. I teamed up w...

Lab 11 "Editing Tools" Part 2

Image
During lab 11 we had another set of photos that we had to use different tools on them and make each picture different. We were only allowed to use these tools in order to master them. The tools were color replacement, patch tool, spot heal tool, clone stamp, content aware, and healing brush. These tools were new to me because I have never heard of it. In picture A we need to clone bricks to make other bricks look better, had to use the color replacement tool to change the color of the hat and using content aware we cleared up spots. In picture B we used the spot healing brush to get rid of the sprinkler and using the clone tool we fixed the rip in the bottom left. In pic C we used the healing brush we cleared the name DJ, then using the patch tool to clear the holes in the rocks to make them look new. Lastly in Pic D we used the healing brush to clear the wrinkles on the forehead and used the patch tool to clear more around the face. These tools are very useful to a web designer beca...

Lab 10 Editing Tools Part 1

Image
In lab 10 we had 5 pictures that we had to edit using different tools web designers use in order to master them, and make use of them to their full potential. In the first picture, it was the family guy crew and the instructions told us to change the colors and remove the background using specific tools. These tools were the magic eraser tool which allowed to remove the background of the picture, and we then used the paint bucket tool to fill in the colors of the shirts and logo. In the second picture we had to blur the front two guys then blur the people in the back. In order to do this we used the blur tool and i selected it to make sure i get it all without mistakes. The third picture was a family and we had to use the dodge and the burn tool to either darken or highlight different areas of the picture. The fourth picture we used the sponge tool to the desaturate the picture and make it look black and white. The last picture we highlighted the background and changed the color of i...

Lab 9 Blending Options for Layer Styles

Image
In lab 9 which was a very simple lab we had to write our name 6 times and use different types of blending options to it and it would add different effects. My favorite effect out of all the blending options was the shadow it created because it makes the words pop out and look really good. Web designers would 100% use this tool every time they write something even if its a little bit, because it just add that extra effect that you need to your text that makes it look amazing or just better than before. For each of my name i used different color overlays, shadows, glows, outer glows, and color blending which allowed many colors come and make the text like a rainbow if you chose the rainbow color. This lab was fairly easy and simple but the most useful one because making text look good is also whats going to attract your reader or the audience your are looking for.
