Png,jpg, raw and gif are all file formats. Png stands for Portable Network graphics. Png supports lossless data compression. This means that png was created to hopefully replace the gif file that is normally used on the internet. A gif is a lossless format that supports both animated and static images. A gif can loop endlessly and can be a twirling icon or a wavy one. Gifs are generally easier to make than using Java or flash. The raw file is a file that hasn't been compressed or encrypted. Raw files are usually in a image sensor or a digital camera. The raw file is not ready to be printed or edited. A jpg is a file extension for a lossy graphics file. Jpg and Jpeg both stand for the same thing (Joint Photographic Experts Group) and are both interchangeable with each other. JPEG is the most common image format used for digital cameras and other photographic pictures.
